Our Story

Over Two Decades of Commitment to Our Community

An oak tree’s roots support vital functions of growing, gathering nutrients and supporting the weight of the mighty tree. Without strong roots, a tree is bound to wither and collapse.

There was a need for a bank in Fitchburg that was a Fitchburg bank. Not a bank that happened to have its branches in Fitchburg, but one with strong roots in the community. It was Bob Gorsuch’s dream to open such a bank that could grow and flourish.

We strengthened our roots by hiring talented and caring people and staying up to date with the latest banking technology. We designed our building to feel like home, with a fireplace, TV and no teller lines. But Oak Bank’s story goes beyond the day-to-day function of the bank. We took time to donate our resources and talents to over 100 local non-profits every year, and to give away more than 24,500 pounds of pumpkins (so far) at the annual Great Pumpkin Giveaway. We’ve created a bank that is committed to its clients, community and shareholders.

You can see that commitment to the community reflected in the non-profits that we support and the relationships that we maintain with our clients. We’re always willing to lend a hand, even when it goes above and beyond the duty of a banker. Because at the end of the day, we’re not bankers, we’re your neighbors.

But don’t take our word for it, stop by and meet our team and sample some of our fresh baked cookies in the lobby to experience first-hand why we are different.
